If you work in application or website design or have a new website and want to increase your users’ satisfaction, you have probably heard a lot about the two acronyms, UI and UX. One of the most commonly discussed topics in digital marketing today is the difference between UI and UX.
The most commonly asked question about these two terms is whether sites, applications, and platforms necessarily require two different designers to design UI and UX. Or can they leave the UI / UX design to a designer?
The initial question on this topic is; Exactly who should do the UI and UX design? Is it better for the designers to be two different people? Or if the answer to this question is yes and you leave the design of UI and UX to different people, how should the two designers work together?
The interesting thing to note is that although you have heard the terms UI and UX more about site design, these two terms are used in the digital world and site design and in any situation where the relationship between the user and product. The concept of UI and UX will also be introduced. To better answer the questions we asked, we first need to explain what UI and UX mean. In the continuation of this article, we will define these two terms and explain the related topics.
What is the meaning of UX
UX is a combination of two acronyms for User Experience. Simply put, UX means user experience. That is anything that is somehow related to the use of your website and application. Even if you have a product outside of the digital space, the positive experience of working with that product will be the quality of your product user experience.
We think you have an educational site. Your expectation from the positive interaction of users with the site is that the statistics show that the user enters the site quickly; Can easily register; Prepare their training package; Easily switch between blog and tutorial pages; View and buy new products; In line with the training package that he has prepared, properly use that training package, and there are many other things that, in total, are the user experience of being on your site.
It may be interesting to you, but even users can easily log in to their account or have an excellent menu to access the site’s features is an essential and significant part of UX design.
Measure the quality of user experience
When a user logs in to your website or uses your app, they evaluate the quality of your site usage experience with a few simple criteria. Are these simple metrics subconsciously created in the user’s mind, and will the user in the future still want to visit your website or, unfortunately, can no longer communicate well with the site?
Therefore, if you want to work in user experience design, you should first try to search for users’ feelings and needs. We suggest that you look at the interface of your site or application through the eyes of a non-expert user. In your reviews and evaluations, you should answer the question: What is the user looking for in the user experience?
Here are the most important criteria for measuring the quality of user experience:
- The first criterion is the value and credibility you have given to the user. Digital world users are savvy users, and they are well aware of whether you value your users as a base or a digital business.
- Users are more likely to interact with sites or apps that provide valuable content. This means that the user believes that the site will have a positive performance, and using the site services can bring good results.
- Is your product, app, or site designed to be easy for users to interact with? If the answer is yes, you have met another essential criterion. Studies show that the more accessible a site or product is to use, the better the quality of the user experience.
- And finally, is the totality of your services as a site or application pleasant for the user? The answer to this question is another criterion that evaluates the user experience.
From what has been said, we can say that UX is what can be considered a more practical and appropriate design for your site, taking into account all the criteria that we have described. Also, take steps to improve the quality of the user experience.
What is the meaning of UI
So far, we have talked about UX and explained that, in general, the set of behaviors, states, or feelings that the user experiences when using the product or site will be UX. UX is a practical and objective experience, but the question is, what is UI? Is UI a different topic than UX?
Answer with a simple example
To define a UI, it is best first to give an example. Imagine being introduced to two book-selling sites. Both sites have similar books and offer the same prices to sell their books, but one of these two sites shows attractive images of the beautiful sections of a book; It has beautiful colors; Allows you to highlight sections of your book with beautiful colors and designs; It has attractive images and animations and generally shows a much more beautiful view.
In contrast to the other site, it is straightforward and does not have a beautiful and exciting view. In this example, the site with the most visual beauty did the UI design well. In this example, although the user experience of the first site is similar to the user experience of the second site, the first site will establish more communication with its users than the second site. This means that it will have a more robust user interface. UI means precisely that. User Interface is your site’s appearance and visual identity that makes the user feel positive about being on the site.
What is the difference between UI and UX?
So far, we have defined the user experience and user interface. In the following, it is necessary to explain that although UI and UX in some cases have similarities or are considered a subset of each other, in general, they are two completely separate topics that need to be designed by an expert related to the same section. Using two design teams to design the user experience and user interface is common in large companies. Still, a separate team is not usually considered for each department in small companies or sites.
In many small sites, it is common for programmers and designers to receive appropriate information from site administrators or personnel who have direct contact with users and customers to increase the quality of their design. For example, site administrators, in the face of users and seeing their needs, inform the designer of this information and ask him to fix the bugs or consider an idea to increase the quality of the user experience or user interface.
So, if you can think of two design teams for UI and UX design, be sure to do so. Because the presence of an expert designer will bring better results, on the other hand, if you are not able to have two design teams, we suggest that you consider all the details of your user’s behavior and feelings and provide this information to the designer constantly.
