Will the iPhone 15 be unveiled with a 48-megapixel camera?

One of the major upgrades to the iPhone 15’s camera system is the increase in the main lens to 48 megapixels, matching the iPhone 15 Pro. However, both cameras take 24 megapixel photos by default to conserve your storage space. Stay tuned for more on how to use the iPhone 15’s 48 megapixel camera to capture photos with the most detail.

Last year, Apple launched its first 48-megapixel main camera with the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, capable of capturing ProRAW images, while the regular iPhone 14 remained with a 12-megapixel main lens.

This year, unlike last year, all iPhone 15 models have a 48MP main camera. While the 15 Pro and Pro Max are capable of taking ProRAW photos, there’s a new mode called HEIF Max 48MP that all models can use.

While the new HEIF Max 48MP mode allows you to capture high-resolution images at much smaller file sizes of around 5MB, you may not want to use this mode all the time.

But when you want to capture the most detail that allows for more cropping and editing, using the full power of the iPhone 15’s 48MP camera is what you want.
